Jonathan Price Keister, 77, of Blacksburg, died Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Lewis Gale Hospital – Montgomery. He was born in Christiansburg May 27, 1948, to the late James Jones and Stella Mae Price Keister.
He graduated from Blacksburg High School in 1966 and attended NRCC before enlisting in the U.S Navy in 1968 at the age of 20. Jon’s lifelong dream was to serve in the Navy, and he fulfilled that dream honorably.
He entered the fleet reserve after retiring with 26 years of service as Senior Chief Electronics Technician (ET).
He loved reading miliary books, especially by Tom Clancy, listening to smooth jazz music, and his favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys.
He is preceded in death by two brothers; Freddy Keister (Shirley), Phillip Keister; and sister, Judy Teates (Bennett).
He is survived by his wife of almost 46 years, Tracey Jarvis Keister; children, Christopher Keister, Allison Price (Brian), Michael Keister, Alexander Keister (Ellen); six grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Dot Keister and Leslie Sherman.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at McCoy Funeral Home.
