Charlie Richard Keffer, 91, of Newport, died suddenly in a farming accident on Friday, August 17, 2018. He was born in Craig County, Va. on August 2, 1927 to Ray and Grace Duncan Keffer.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Mary Ellen Garrison Keffer, brothers, Kenneth Keffer and Wayne Keffer, sister, Ruth Keffer Hypes, one son-in-law, Charles McCoy, and great-granddaughter, Raven Keffer.
Charlie was a 40-year retired employee of the Radford Arsenal. He loved baseball, NASCAR, bluegrass, farming and family. He was a lifelong member of Level Green Christian Church. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII.
Surviving children are Karen Sue McCoy, Penny and Ricky Stone, Dale and Mary Kay Keffer, Carla Keffer, Earic and Laure Keffer, and Greg and Loretta Keffer, grandchildren, David and Selena McCoy, Michael McCoy, Lee, John and Michelle Guilliams, Matthew and Adam Keffer, Travis and Hope Keffer, Chris Heath, Ray and Ethan Keffer, Nathan and Nora Keffer, 16 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted today, Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at noon in the Level Green Christian Church with the Minister Duane Wente officiating. Interment will follow in the Williams Cemetery, Newport.
