Virginia Rose Scott Jewell, 82, of Radford, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 1, 2012. She was a faithful member and devote prayer warrior of the East Radford Church of God where she read, studied and lived by the Word of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene A. Jewell. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Christine Hollins of Riner and Larry and Barbara Hollins of Dublin; two stepdaughters, Wanda Reed and fiancé David Burton of Dublin, and Roxie Reed and her husband John of Radford; 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and a very special granddaughter, Sherie Barnett, who was like the daughter she never had. The family would like to especially thank Kathy VanDien, a very special caregiver and friend. Funeral services were held Friday, May 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the East Radford Church of God with Rev. Wayne Poston, Rev. Jim Walker, and Rev. Michael Collins officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. The family received friends Thursday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
