Walter Edward Jarels, 89, of Blacksburg, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024.
He was born in Montgomery County on May 14, 1934 to the late Henry Lee and Clydia Thompson Jarels. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Smith Jarels; his son, Marvin Edwards Jarels; brothers, Paul, Herman, Eugene, George, Leslie, and Marshall Jarels; and a sister, Lucille Vaught.
He was a longtime member of Sunnyside Pentecostal Holiness Church. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and Jimmy Mattox, Joyce and Mike Randall, and Enola and Donald Hixon; daughter-in-law, Nadean Jarels; grandchildren, Melissa, Kayla, Jameson, William, Melanie, Adam, Andrea, Walter, Amanda, Chris, and Kevin; 14 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Joyce Jarels; and sister, Kathy Hodge.
Funeral Services were conducted Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024 in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Minister Don Leonard and Pastor Gary Dunford officiating. Interment followed in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family received friends prior to the service at McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
