James (Jim) High of Brookhaven, Ga., passed away on Jan. 23, 2022 at his home with his family around him.

Jim was the beloved husband of Lori and the father of James Matthew and Elizabeth High. He will be missed by his family, many friends and people he interacted with every day. Jim was known for a good story at any time and a joke that brought a smile, and he loved to argue a point of view for the fun of it. His loss will be felt greatly by those who knew him.

Jim was born in Radford and spent all of his formative years there. He was able to enter and graduate from Virginia Tech and always considered himself a Hokie. He planned most of his Saturdays during football season around the Hokie schedule.

Jim was a leader of medical sales organizations and a retiree of Pfizer. Post-retirement he never really stopped. He stayed home and was the home dad to Matthew and Elizabeth and ran the real estate investment business that provided him many opportunities to use his business knowledge.   Jim married later in life so there was a life before marriage and a life after marriage. Jim and Lori met in Virginia Beach and were married for 32 years, He always considered Matthew and Elizabeth to be his greatest achievement. He always said he had to wait for Lori to grow up so that they could have the life he always wanted.

Jim had a brief illness and left the world the way he wanted to: quickly. He leaves behind the joy that he brought to his family and friends.

A party in honor of Jim’s life will be held in the spring at his beloved home outside of Blairsville, Ga., and his many family and friends will join together to celebrate his life. Details to follow.

Memorials may be given in Jim’s honor to Sacred Journey Hospice of Atlanta or Traumatic Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS.org). The High family wishes to thank the wonderful nurses on the oncology floor at Northside Hospital and the caring angels from Sacred Journey Hospice who made the transition of Jim’s soul to Heaven just a little easier.
