Danny Lee Hypes, 67, passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born Sept. 29, 1957, in Belspring, Va. to Dorothy and Frank Hypes.
Danny is survived by his devoted lifelong partner of 40 years Tina Bragenzer; his sons, Daniel Hypes of Belspring and Shannon Hypes of Floyd; daughter, Danielle Hypes of Radford; his brother, Tony (Susan) Hypes; and sisters, Terry (Gary) Collier, Ann Walters, Betty Harless and Serreta Hypes.
Danny was a loving father, friend, brother and truly a force to be reckoned with. At the age of 17, he courageously risked his life to attempt to save a young woman who drowned in the New River in February of 1974. Danny spent his early days serving as an Airborne Ranger, jumping out of airplanes and exploring the world and it is considered one of his proudest and greatest achievements. He spent his time living life to the fullest enjoying nature, hunting, cutting wood, fishing the New River, grilling, camping, and participating in car shows with his Dodge Challengers. He was praised for his green thumb and loved sharing that with his friends.
The family wishes to express their endless gratitude to the Salem Veterans Medical Center staff for their care, compassion, and support to Danny and his family.
The family received friends Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Services and interment followed in Brown Cemetery in Belspring.
The Hypes family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
