Amoore, Kitley’s big nights lead No. 11 Virginia Tech past No. 22 NC State, 73-61
RALEIGH, N.C. – Georgia Amoore scored 27 points and Elizabeth Kitley added 25 and the No. 11 Virginia Tech women’s basketball team beat the No. 22 NC State Wolfpack 73-61 on the road Monday. The win was the Hokies’ first win in Raleigh in program history.
The Hokies (19-4, 9-4 ACC) had three players score in double figures, led by Amoore, who had 27 points and six assists. Kitley tacked on a double-double with 25 points and 14 rebounds and Cayla King chipped in as well with 10 points.
The Virginia Tech offense was very productive from beyond the arc, knocking down nine threes on 19 attempts. Amoore was the most prolific shooter for the Hokies, draining five treys in the contest.
Virginia Tech’s defense held NC State to only 40 percent shooting from the field. The Wolfpack did not have much luck cleaning up their misses on the offensive glass either, as they finished with seven offensive rebounds and managed only seven second-chance points while Virginia Tech cleared 32 defensive rebounds.
