Folks at the Montgomery Museum of Art & History believe that this photograph shows the miner’s housing at Merrimac Mine around 1905. A report from that year stated the site consisted of “plant, mine, railroad (the Huckleberry) and equipment, twenty-five dwellings, store, etc.” This mine was operated until the mid-twentieth century. (This image from the D. D. Lester Collection and many more are available from the Montgomery Museum of Art & History.)
