Radford head women’s golf coach Jeff Beeler announced Tuesday afternoon the addition of Niki Batac to the program for the 2020-21 season.
She joins the Highlanders after transferring from St. Edward’s University (Texas) and will have four years of eligibility beginning in the fall.
“We’re very excited to add Niki to our roster,” said Beeler. “She has tremendous upside and a desire to excel at the highest level. I have a sneaky suspicion that she’s going to turn a lot of heads.”
Batac played in numerous amateur tournaments in Asia while attending Kadena High School on the Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan. She placed inside the top 30 of the amateur division at the Women’s Daikin Orchid Qualifier in 2019, a tournament with a field of more than 150.
Batac also competed in the Amateur Championship at Kanehide Kise Golf Course in Okinawa in 2018 and the Ladies Open Amateur Tournament at Okinawa Country Club.
She won the Banyan Tree Golf Course Championship four times during her amateur career, including three straight years from 2016-18. Batac also won the Taiyo Golf Course Championship three times, including back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015.
Batac joins Jimenna Ramirez as newcomers for the Highlanders for the 2020-21 season. The duo will be joined by four returning starters from the 2019-20 season that was 12-3 against Big South competition.
