For the first time in Radford University Athletics history, the department will host the Highlander Half Marathon, 8K and Kids Fun Run Saturday, April 29. The races will take place throughout the Radford City limits.
The half marathon and 8K will begin at 8 a.m., at the Dedmon Center. The race course will take runners on a tour of Radford that includes the university campus and surrounding neighborhoods.
As participants make their way back to the Dedmon Center, 8K runners will head to the finish line, while half marathon runners will continue through Bisset Park, Wildwood Park and areas surrounding Radford High School. The race course, start/finish line and post-race festivities will be staffed by student-athletes, athletics staff and university/community volunteers.
Race participants will enjoy a spectacular finish line celebration with great food, live music and children’s activities. Highlander gear and kilts are strongly encouraged.
All race proceeds will be used to support the Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarship aid to Radford’s 16 varsity sports.
