Carol Sue Grim, born Oct. 8, 1946, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and beloved teacher and friend, passed away peacefully at Commonwealth Senior Living in Fairlawn July 17, 2025, where she had resided for the past three years. She was surrounded by love, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Carol dedicated over 25 years of her life to education, shaping the minds and hearts of generations of students-most of her career spent in Bland County School system. Her gentle spirit, patience, and unwavering commitment to her students left an enduring impact on all who entered her classroom.

She is survived by her loving son, Kirby Mitchell Billings, and his wife, Holly Ann Billings. Carol was a proud and adoring grandmother to Parker, 17, and Jillian, 15, who brought her immense joy and pride along with many nieces and nephews and former husband, Charles Wayne Grim.

Carol was preceded in death by her father Charles Pat Haynes, and mother, Mrytle Ethel Haynes. Carol was also followed by her three sisters-Peggy, Nancy, and Jean-and her brother, affectionately known as “Shorty.” She cherished her family deeply and will be remembered for her kindness, warm smile, and the grace with which she lived her life.

A graveside service to celebrate Carol’s life was held Saturday, July 26 at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, Virginia.

The Grim family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
