Elaine Vermeersch Gaines died in the wee hours of the morning on July 17, 2019, after a long struggle with cancer. Mother to nine, grandmother to 27, great-grandmother to five, sister to four, daughter of two, Elaine was a devoted, loving wife to Jim Gaines for 62 years. Elaine was laid to rest at sunrise in her beloved woods, accompanied by birdsong, and surrounded by her loving family.
