Radford High School continued its dominance and remained unbeaten with a 36-3 win on Friday over Glenvar.
Landon Clark was 16 of 20 through the air for 149 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for another score.
J.D. Grubb rushed 11 times for 105 yards, while Clark added 41 yards on the ground.
Max Kanipe caught four passes for 71 yards with a touchdown as Clark connected with two others for touchdown.
But it was on the defensive side of the ball that Clark proved to be the difference, intercepting two Glenvar passes. Luke Woodard also picked off another for the defense.
The win pushed Radford to 6-0 and probably secures the top seed in Region 2D as the points standings were set to be released this week.
The story was a little different for the area’s other unbeaten.
Riverheads (4-1) kicked a 27-yard field goal with no time on the clock to pull out a 24-21 victory Friday night over Christiansburg (5-1). Zac Burton nailed the kick straight between the posts as Riverheads rallied from 21-7 halftime deficit. The defending Class 2 state champion, Riverheads, rushed for 264 yards with none through the air.
QB Tanner Evans led Christiansburg with 20 carries for 139 yards. Matt Annis added 63 yards on nine carries, while Issaih Cotto rushed six times for 23 yards. Evans was six of nine on passing for 58 yards and an interception.
Evans rushed twice for scores from 49 and 10 yards, both in the first half, while throwing another one to Donovan Robinson for a 27-yard touchdown.
The Virginia High School League will release its first points standings on Tuesday, and Radford should be the leader in the region. Christiansburg will be in the Top 4 in Region 3D.
A note from the Riverheads game: Christiansburg isn’t the only school having problems with lights in the stadium. Riverheads lost a bank of lights shortly before the start of the game in the left corner of an endzone. School officials allowed the lights to remain out for the entire length of the contest.
Three weeks ago, Christiansburg lost a visitor’s side light pole go black and had to bring in extra mobile lights.

Cade Cook-Cash, who was playing for the first-time in three weeks, rushed 21 times for 112 yards. Austin Roberts added 12 carries for 58 yards, and Jonathan Talbot rushed 14 times for 95 yards.

Blacksburg, who had an open date this past week, has won two games this season, which is more than the past two years combined.
Prediction: Christiansburg 38, Blacksburg 20.
Auburn at Bath
Auburn is hoping to stay healthy at the midway point of the season. Bath come into the contest 5-0 with its latest win being 63-28 over Roanoke Catholic.
Prediction: Bath 38, Auburn 16.
James River at Radford
James River is coming off 14-0 loss to Carroll County and fell to 3-3 on the season. The team has allowed an average of 24 points per game this season. Radford is averaging 43 points on the offensive side of the ball while only giving up eight points.
Prediction: Radford 34, James River 7.
Eastern Montgomery at Craig
Craig is 2-2 including a 54-18 loss to Auburn, while Eastern Montgomery is 1-4.
Prediction: Eastern Montgomery 20, Craig 14.
