Five former Pulaski Yankees have been selected to participate in the 2017 South Atlantic League All-Star Game.
Catcher Donny Sands, middle infielder Hoy Jun Park, outfielders Blake Rutherford and Estevan Florial and pitcher Brian Keller have all been selected to represent the Charleston RiverDogs in the South Atlantic League All-Star Game.
Sands had a solid stint in Pulaski last season batting an even .300 with two homeruns in 16 games. He has continued to have a strong presence in the batter’s box for the Riverdogs hitting .262 with 20 RBI this season.
Park made his professional baseball debut in 2015 for Pulaski hitting five homeruns while driving in 30 runs and swiping 12 bags. This year for Charleston he has hit .259 with four dingers and 23 RBI while splitting time defensively at shortstop and second base.
Rutherford is batting .280 with one homerun, 18 RBI and nine stolen bases this year for the RiverDogs. He became a fan favorite in Pulaski during the 2016 season while hitting .382 with two homeruns and nine RBI.
Florial flashed his power last season in Pulaski belting seven homeruns and driving in 25 runs. He has continued to hit for power this year for the RiverDogs with eight homers and 27 RBI while also batting an impressive .293.
Keller appeared in five games for Pulaski in 2016 with a 1-0 record and an ERA of 1.89. In 11 starts for Charleston this season he has pitched to the tune of a 3.97 ERA while striking out 67 batters in 65.2 innings pitched. Keller has gone the distance twice pitching two complete games.
Two former Pulaski players were also selected to represent the Tampa Yankees in the Florida State League All-Star Game.
Relief pitcher Cody Carroll was named an all-star but will not participate in the all-star game due to his call up to Double-A Trenton. In four appearances for the Trenton Thunder he has pitched nine innings while striking out 12 batters and walking only two. Carroll appeared in 14 games for Pulaski in 2015.
Right handed starter Zack Littell was also named an all-star. He has been a dominant force on the mound for Tampa this season. Littell leads the Florida State League with eight wins and his 1.76 ERA is good for third best among league leaders.
Littell pitched at Calfee Park in 2014 for the Pulaski Mariners and was acquired by the New York Yankees in a trade following the 2016 season.
