The Pulaski Yankees minor league baseball team thought they were doing something good by offering free tickets to this season’s home schedule for students in the Pulaski County school system, but it seemed to backfire when a parent advertised the flex-plan general admission tickets for sale on a Facebook yard sale site.
Apparently, the man thought he could sell the tickets for $100. While it is not against the law, it is against the overall plan for the tickets and is receiving a lot of negative publicity.
The Yankees issued the following statement:
“We are disappointed to see a program meant to help the youth of our county be taken advantage of by adults. This month ‘Growing The Future’ and the Pulaski Yankees handed out booklets of tickets to every child in each of the eight Pulaski County schools.
“These booklets contained 32 tickets so Pulaski County students could have the opportunity to come to all of our home games. We want to provide a fun, safe, family-friendly activity that each child deserves to have. We hope that you, as supporters of this community and the youth we love and support, will reconsider selling these tickets for personal profit and only purchase tickets through Pulaski Yankees.”
The sale appeared on the Facebook page “Dublin/Pulaski County Online Yard Sale,” but as of Wednesday had been taken down.
Pulaski opens the season on June 22, and the tickets are valued at $170.
