Ellen Dove Dowdy

Ellen Dove Dowdy, 71, of Little Creek, Bland County died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, at her home. She
was born in Blacksburg on Dec. 9, 1950 to the late Willie Antney and Lola Mae Owens Dove. She was
also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Dove, Willie “Buddy” Dove and Ribble Dove; and sisters,
Nellie Cook and Betty Tolly.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Dowdy; son and daughter-in-law, Bentley “Randy” and Catrina
Thompson; three daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela Thornton, Teresa and Joe Shepard, and Melissa and
Michael Cox; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Wayne Slusser; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and
Janice Dove; grandchildren, Sierra and Cody Sowers, Ryan Thompson, Ally Thompson; and special
great-grandson, Cayson Sowers.
Graveside services were conducted Monday, Jan. 10, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the Dove Family Cemetery with
Pastor Linda Hale and Rev. Derek Cowan officiating. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home,
Blacksburg.
