A team of youngsters from Virginia Elite Wrestling (VEW) of Christiansburg came in sixth out of 105 scoring teams last week at the 2020 VaWA Folkstyle State Tournament in Richmond. With 1,288 wrestlers competing, the local VEW group came home with 18 medals.
John Wesley Bolen and Carder Miller both were state champions.
Runners-up were Hunter Blount and Carter Hudson. Stephen Bolen, Derek Bush, Brady Hand, Randy Winnans and Dillinger Collins earned third-place finishes. In fourth place were Caleb Swanson, Zach Hudson and Molly Keller. Making it to fifth place were Chandler Webb, Nolan Marshall and Barrett Collins. Sixth-place finishers were Evan Mefford, Zach Cummings and JJ Pociask.
