The City of Radford Economic Development Authority recognized Basil Edwards, Director of Operations for the City of Radford, for his accomplishments during his nearly 20 years of service in economic development.
During the EDA’s December board meeting, Chairman Dr. Flo Graham highlighted many of Edwards’ successes during his tenure as Economic Development Director and his work promoting the City of Radford.
She listed the design and sale of the building and property to Moog Aspen Motion Tech in 1999, the building of a facility in 2002 that today houses TechLab, which has created 90 new jobs, and a $7 million investment in the creation of economic incentive grants that, since 2011, have helped many businesses in the City of Radford.
In addition, Edwards has served on many boards representing the City of Radford, including the New River Valley Airport Commission, Virginia’s First Regional Industrial Facility Authority, Radford Chamber of Commerce, Onward NRV, Radford Child Development, and the NRV Development Corporation.
“We are so fortunate for Basil’s expertise and commitment to the City of Radford”, Dr. Flo Graham said. “On behalf of the EDA and entire Radford community, we appreciate his tenure in economic development and wish him well in his new role within the city as Director of Operations”.
Edwards began serving as Economic Development Director for the City of Radford in March of 1999. In February of 2018, he was named Director of Operations.
