Cindy H. Dowdy, 67, of Dublin, left the family that she dearly loved to be with her Heavenly Father on April 12, 2025, after a long illness. She was born in Radford May 4, 1957, to Harold and Lula Hollins.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Harold Hollins, grandparents, Elson and Rosie Hollins, Allen and Ada Long. Also, Jeff and Marie Hedge and Russell and Fleta Dowdy.

She was a great wife, mom and granny. She was also known as Granny to the kids at French’s Chapel where she taught Sunday school and was a faithful member since 1992. She also enjoyed being in the choir and when living in Alleghany County, she sang with the Potts Valley Singers. She enjoyed going to the beach, and to Colorado and Montana.

She worked in the grocery business, insurance and banking before her illness.

Cindy is survived by her mother, Lula Hollins; husband, Jay Dowdy; children, Jeff Hedge (Robin), Scott Hedge (Karen), Jason Dowdy (Lori) and Michele Blevins (Kevin); seven grandchildren, Lily, Becky, Abby, Cassy, Laney, Landon and Maddie; brothers, Joey Hollins (Lois) and Steve Hollins (Marcy); sister, Cathy Smith (Darrell); many nieces, nephews, and cousins; brothers-in-law, Joe Dowdy, Jeff Dowdy and Jerry Dowdy (Robin); special friends, Emily Hart, Salina Smiley and Elhelene Sadler; and special cousin, Emily Harmon.

Her family and friends take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the arms of her Savior.

The family would also like to extend thanks to Good Samaritan’s nurses and staff. As well as the doctors, nurses, and staff throughout this journey, including Dr. Spence, Dr. Carter, Dr. Daniels and Karen, NRV Medical Center, Wake Forest, and UVA Medical Center.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 19, 2025 at French’s Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Joseph H. Hollins, Jr. officiating. The family received friends prior to the service at the church.
