The Radford High School girls’ basketball team finished 15-7 this season, being knocked from the regional playoffs.
The Three Rivers District has announced Radford Coach Janay Rollins as the coach of the year and Kearson Carter as player of the year.
Carter, a junior, surpassed the 1,000 scoring mark this past season. She was joined on the first team by teammates Bryanna Perry and Angel Thompson.
Jaden Hendricks was the only boys Bobcat honored by the TRD, being placed on the second team.
Christiansburg had one of its best years as a boys program finishing 17-9 overall. Sophomore Garrett Overbay was named to the all-district River Ridge first team with Brasen Hutchens being named to second team, and Walker Overbay honorable mention.
Jasmine Coleman was the only Christiansburg first teamer on the girls’ side of the clipboard. Teammates Sophia Russell and J.C. Coleman were second-teamers along with Blacksburg’s Kensi Jones. Danyell Lewis and Ella Day, both of Blacksburg were named to the honorable mention list.
Eastern Montgomery placed one on the first team all-Pioneer with Cyrus Underwood. Second teamers included Prince Robinson and Kellan Stewart. Three from Eastern Montgomery, Owen Keith, Marshall Tate and Grayson Welcher, were named honorable mention.
On the girls’ side, Olivia Boone represented Eastern Montgomery on the second team all-Pioneer with Brookelyn Kingery as honorable mention.
