Dewey “Sonny” Allen Light, Jr., of Christiansburg, passed away on July 27, 2021, in his home.
Sonny was born in Christiansburg on Sept. 12, 1945. He graduated from Christiansburg High School and went on to attend James Madison University and eventually own his own business refinishing furniture until his retirement.
Sonny proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Dewey Allen Light, Sr., and Beatrice Dove Light, as well as his brother, Steve Light.
Surviving are his siblings and their spouses, Rose and Jim Stone, Judy Lafon, Connie Vanhoozier, and Michael and Karen Light as well as his sister-in-law, Colleen Light. He is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews and several dear friends.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021 at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg, Va. A graveside service will be held at the Committal Shelter of the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, 5550 Bagging Plant Rd., Dublin, Va. on Mon., Aug. 2, 2021 at 10 a.m.
