On July 26, 2021, Darlene Nora Poff Dove, 72, passed away ever so peacefully.
She leaves behind her loving husband and best friend, Calvin Dove, of 52 ½ years and her fur baby, Jada. Darlene and Calvin did everything together, even working side by side for 44 years at Kopy Korner.
Darlene was a good Christian woman who loved with all her heart. She was always helping family and friends in need. She was good at selling doughnuts (years ago) and cooking; but most of all, to her family and friends, she was famous for making the best cakes ever.
Darlene loved flowers and she loved giving them away, too. Her flower beds and containers of flowers were always filled with different types and colors that were a sight to see. She also loved her blueberries, which she was always fighting the birds over. She was an avid prize-winning hand quilter too. Every hand stitch was made with love and care for the person she was giving the quilt to.
Their cabin at the river was her getaway from the hustle and bustle of life. She could sit on her porch and listen to the river roll by, work in her flower gardens, mow, or just relax with the good Lord above and nature. Darlene loved having family and friends over at the river for get-togethers, cookouts, or just to visit.
Darlene also leaves behind her mother, Pauline Pratt Poff; two sisters, Lois Ann Akers and Melinda Shaver (Melvin); three sisters-in-law, Eva Jo Dove, Diane Dove, and Janice Hodge; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and special friends. all of whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Martin Flemon Poff; sisters Imogene Ruth Poff and Catherine Louise Poff; and a brother, Edsil McCoy Poff.
The family received friends and family on Thursday, July 29, at McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg. Service followed visitation with Pastor Dwayne Martin officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Darlene to the American Cancer Society, at 2050 Langhorne Rd., Suite 201, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
