BLACKSBURG – Frustrated by repeated refusals from Congressman Morgan Griffith to attend a live town hall, constituents of Virginia’s 9th Congressional District are holding a town hall without the congressman.
On Friday, April 4, 2025 at 7 p.m. residents will gather at 1301 Gladewood Dr., Blacksburg for a public town hall.
“Despite multiple invitations, Congressman Griffith has declined to attend, offering a range of reasons or, in some cases, not responding at all,” organizers stated. “Constituents believe that elected officials should be accountable and accessible to the people they represent. This event will serve as an open forum for residents to discuss pressing issues, share concerns, and ask the questions they would have posed to their representative.”
Organizers say the town hall will include discussions on key issues affecting the district, including cuts to Medicaid and social security. Residents, local leaders, and policy experts are invited to participate and contribute to a meaningful dialogue about the future of Southwest Virginia.
Special guest speakers have been invited to attend.
This event is open to the public and media. All interested parties are encouraged to attend.
