RADFORD – Live music and food trucks will bring fun to Bisset Park Saturday, and Sunday features a concert at First Baptist Church to raise funds for Ukrainian refugees.

The Spring Wing Ding, hosted by the Radford Visitors Center and the Radford Chamber of Commerce is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Bisset Park. The event begins directly after the Highlander 5K, which starts at the Dedmon Center at 9 a.m.

Barren Minds, a band that plays a mix of 60s, 70s and 80s rock as well as some original material with a blues and rock influence, starts playing at 11 a.m. The band was originally formed when the members were students at Christiansburg High School.

Food trucks include Cabo Food Truck, Salty’s Lobster & Co., 800 Degrees Wood Fired Pizza, and Aloha Eddie.

On Sunday, First Baptist Church on Third Avenue will host a concert to raise money for CARES for the needs of Ukrainians with performances by several talented Radford University music faculty and students. Dr. Matt Cataldi, Radford University Music Professor and other Radford University music teaching faculty and students will be performing a secular music concert beginning at 2 p.m tomorrow, Sunday, May 1. Admission is free.

A love offering will be received to be sent to CARE for the organization’s crisis response in Ukraine to reach four million people with aid and recovery, food, water, hygiene kits, psychosocial support, and cash assistance.
