Micah’s Backpack, Plenty!, and Friends of the Animal Control Center will cook their hearts out at the New River Valley Home Builders Association next Saturday beginning at noon.
The third annual ‘Cook Your Heart Out’ Cooking Competition is part of the NRVHBA Home Expo that will run from Friday evening through Sunday at the Christiansburg Recreation Center.
The three local non-profit teams, are very excited for the challenge. Unique dishes will be created and prepared using a combination of two secret ingredients for each of three competition rounds.
Local guest judges will be looking for stand-out dishes when it comes to appearance, creativity, and taste.
While all teams will be working to impress the panel of judges, some lucky Home Expo attendees will also be allowed to get a taste.
To participate in the People’s Choice Vote, make sure to arrive at the judging times for your samples, then donate a dollar – or more – to your favorite dish (or organization) because your vote is counted by the donations the press release said.
“Best of luck to all of the competitors! We wish everyone could win,” NRVHBA cooking competition coordinator, Jackie Gardner of Ferguson, said.
Only one $1,000.00 winner will come from these fabulous non-profit organizations.
Judging will take place on Saturday, March 10, appetizers at 2:00 p.m.; main courses at 3:30 p.m.; and dessert at 4:30 p.m. The winner will be announced at 5 p.m.
