DUBLIN – Claytor Lake State Park’s Campground Birch (formerly known as Campground B) and yurts will remain closed for the 2025 camping season for the installation of water and electric hookups.

The four yurts and 28 RV sites are expected to reopen in April 2026 with new 20-, 30- and 50-amp electric hookups and on-site access to potable water. During the closure, other areas of the park will remain open to the public, offering a variety of recreational activities and alternative camping options.

Campground Dogwood (formerly known as Campground D) has 39 RV sites with water and electric hookups. It will open on March 7. Campground Cedar (formerly known as Campground C) has 11 RV sites without hookups and will open on April 4. Campground Alder (formerly known as Campground A) has 25 RV sites without hookups and will open on May 23.

In addition to camping, the park has 12 two-bedroom cabins, three three-bedroom cabins and three six-bedroom family lodges, which are all open year-round. From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, visitors can also reserve the bunkhouse, a two-room, climate-controlled camping lodge that sleeps 14.

“These upgrades will greatly enhance the camping experience for our visitors,” said Park Manager Brody Havens. “While we understand that the temporary closure may cause some inconvenience, we are confident that the improvements will be well worth the wait. We look forward to welcoming campers back to Campground Birch and the yurts next year to enjoy these enhanced amenities.”
