Nicholas (Nick) R. Ciullo, of Ashburn, Virginia, died Dec. 14, suddenly and tragically, in Blacksburg, Virginia. Nick was born on March 13, 1995, in Fairfax, Virginia, the son of Emily and Bob Ciullo. He was a senior at Virginia Tech and planned to graduate in May 2018 with a degree in business information technology.
At Virginia Tech, Nick was an active member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and served as a mentor to elementary school students at Gilbert Linkous Elementary School in Blacksburg. He was proud to be recognized on the Dean’s List in 2015 and 2016.
Nick graduated from Brian Woods High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society and on the lacrosse team.
Nick is survived by his parents, Emily Ciullo and Bob Ciullo; his brothers, Patrick Ciullo and Christopher Ciullo; his maternal grandparents, Faye and Joe Russell; his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Ciullo; his step-mother, Carol Ciullo; his step-siblings, Danielle Bunce, Ashley Bunce, Brandon Bunce, and Elizabeth Bunce; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Nick touched the lives of so many people who will miss him so very deeply.
Nick’s love of music was one of his passions in life and was a regular techno DJ at the Sigma Chi house at Virginia Tech and local clubs in Northern Virginia. The Washington Capitals were his favorite NHL team and Alexander Ovechkin his idol. Nick was a raving fan of Arsenal F.C. in the English Premier League.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 21, at St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Leesburg, Virginia.
Additionally, there will be a celebration of life at a later date in Ashburn, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Nick Ciullo Memorial Fund.
