Christiansburg is eighth in this week’s released Virginia High School League points standings with 18.16667.
William Byrd is at the top of the region at 22.8 with Carroll County second at 21.333. Abingdon is third, Lord Botetourt fourth, Bassett fifth, Staunton River sixth and Magna Vista seventh at 18.1667 points slightly ahead of the Blue Demons. Northside is behind Christiansburg with 17.4 points.
In 4D, Jefferson Forest leads the region at 25.2 points. Salem is in 10th and possibly being out of the playoffs for the first time in eight years. Salem has 20.5 points with Blacksburg slightly behind in 11th with 19.6 points.
George Wythe is second in Region 1C with 18.833 points. Narrows is sixth at 14.0. Bath County leads the region at 20.5 points.
Glenvar leads 2C with 20.4 points with Gretna second at 19.2 and Floyd third at 18.6667. Radford remains in seventh at 15.6667.
The Virginia High School League (VHSL) uses a mathematical formula called Power Points to determine football playoff berths and seeding. Power Points are based on wins and losses, the number of wins opponents have, and the difficulty of the schedule.
