Reid Allen became the sixth player from last season’s Christiansburg High School football team to commit to play college ball when he announced a commitment to Concord University where he will compete for a job as a long snapper.
The Blue Demons finished 10-2 this past season as the Region D Class 3’s top team.
Concord was the first school to show interest in Allen, and after going on a visit, he said he really liked the coaching staff, the school, the atmosphere, and the campus.
“I think I can go and compete for a starting spot while getting a great education,” he said.
Concord University is a public university in Athens, W. Va., with an enrollment of 1,800, is an NCAA Division II school, and is a member of the Mountain East Conference. Concord finished 4-6 this past year in Dave Walker’s first full season as head coach.
“I want to make the dress squad and compete for the starting spot in week 1,” Allen said. “I also want to gain as much knowledge as I can to help prepare me for my coaching career in the future.”
Allen plans to major in health and physical education/history to gain his teaching degree.
