Robert Howard Buckland, Jr., “Bob” passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024 at the age of 88 in Hanover, Va. He is deeply loved by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Cris Kelly Buckland (grandchildren- Kara Lee and Pat, great-grandchildren- Slater) and sons, Aaron Buckland (daughter-in-law CeCe, grandchildren- Georgia and Parker), and Paul Buckland (daughter-in-law Kasey, grandchildren- Katey Grace, Ashton and Addy); and his beloved friends, Patsy Buckland and Laura Palmer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Geneva Buckland, sister, Dottie Charuhas, and his son, Robert Howard Buckland III.
Bob proudly grew up in Radford and attended Virginia Military Institute. He later served in the Coast Guard. He was a star athlete for Radford High School and VMI. He lived most of his life in Tidewater and southwest Virginia. Bob’s gregarious personality lent well to sales as a profession where he was very successful in multiple industries throughout his career. He was a funny, outgoing, charming and loving man. He will be deeply missed by all that loved him.
A private service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 18 on his 89th birthday. Please reach out to the family for more information. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a local shelter in his dog, “Miss Milly’s,” honor. The family is extremely grateful for the love and care they’ve received.
