Bruins take Blacksburg Invite titles

Blacksburg High School used Saturday’s home-track advantage to run away with both the boys’ and girls’ championships. The boys tallied 158 points to second place Bassett’s 55. Christiansburg finished third in the boys’ competition with 45 points. Radford finished sixth with 37 points, and Auburn was ninth and Eastern Montgomery was 12th.

Michael Milauskas of Blacksburg finished second in the boys’ pole vault event with a leap of 12-6 at Saturday’s Blacksburg Track Invitational. The meet included teams from throughout the New River Valley and region.

Last year’s state 3A champ from Christiansburg, Rachel Lloyd came in first in the girls’ pole vault with a mark of 11-7.

In the girls’ competition, Blacksburg had 129 points to second place Christiansburg’s 3. Radford was third with 62 points. Auburn was fifth and Eastern Montgomery 10th.
