City partnership offers free tax services
Radford City Commissioner of the Revenue, Cathy Flinchum, has partnered with New River Community Action to provide free income tax services to the community.
The office staff is now IRS certified and enrolled in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. The program offers free tax assistance to people with an income level of $65,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own returns.

City hosts New River clean-up Saturday
The City of Radford is hosting a clean-up of the New River from 9-11 a.m. Saturday. The City will provide cleaning supplies. Participants will meet at 9 a.m. at the gazebo in Bisset Park. To register for the clean-up, contact Jenni Wilder at jenni.wilder@radfordva.gov or 267-3145.
Monthly Relay for Life meeting to be held Monday
The April 2017 Relay for Life of Pulaski County/Radford City team meeting will be held on Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the Eure Educational Building behind the Emergency Room at Lewis Gale Pulaski Hospital.
Anyone interested in starting a new team for the 2017 Relay for Life event is welcome to attend. This includes church groups, businesses and individuals.
Current and prior team members or captains are also encouraged to attend.
A light dinner will be served.
This year’s Relay for Life is scheduled for June 24 from 10 a.m. – midnight at Pulaski County High School’s football field. It is open to the public and all proceeds go directly to the American Cancer Society.
NRV Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day April 8
Residents served by the New River Resource Authority are invited to participate in the region’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection event from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. April 8 at the Radford University Dedmon Center Parking Lot Z (Riverside). Questions regarding the types of materials accepted should be directed to your locality. No commercial waste or commercial vehicles will be accepted as household hazardous waste. Instead, they will be accepted for document shredding and electronic waste. The New River Resource Authority will be accepting plastic bags and a Goodwill container will be on-site.
Freedom Fellowship Easter Egg Hunt April 8
The Freedom Fellowship will be hosting an Easter Eggstavaganza from 3-4:30 p.m. April 8. There will be the Easter story, puppets, crafts, refreshments and an egg hunt with prizes. The address is 1730 West St. in Radford.
