New Mount Olive United Methodist Church holding Fish Fry Saturday
The New Mount Olive United Methodist Chuch is hosting a fish fry from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday at 309 Russell Ave. in Radford. Dinners are $7 and include two pieces of deep-fried fish, baked beans, coleslaw, rolls and dessert. Fish sandwiches are $5. For call-in orders or delivery, contact the church at 639-6425.
City hosts New River clean-up April 1
The City of Radford is hosting a clean-up of the New River from 9-11 a.m. April 1. The City will provide cleaning supplies. Participants will meet at 9 a.m. at the gazebo in Bisset Park. To register for the clean-up, contact Jenni Wilder at jenni.wilder@radfordva.gov or 267-3145.
NRV Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day April 8
Residents served by the New River Resource Authority are invited to participate in the region’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection event from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. April 8 at the Radford University Dedmon Center Parking Lot Z (Riverside). Questions regarding the types of materials accepted should be directed to your locality. No commercial waste or commercial vehicles will be accepted as household hazardous waste. Instead, they will be accepted for document shredding and electronic waste. The New River Resource Authority will be accepting plastic bags and a Goodwill container will be on-site.
RU fraternity presents musical benefit concert April 9
On April 9 at 2 p.m., the Alpha Zeta chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon will present a musical benefit for NRV Project Linus. It will be held at Grove UMC.
City partnership offers free tax services
Radford City Commissioner of the Revenue, Cathy Flinchum, has partnered with New River Community Action to provide free income tax services to the community.
The office staff is now IRS certified and enrolled in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. The program offers free tax assistance to people with an income level of $65,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own returns.
