NRCC offers ‘Staying Safe Online’ workshop Jan. 11
Computer viruses, malware, identity theft, cyber stalking and other online risks are often in the news. New River Community College will offer an informative three-hour session to include how to avoid these and other problems and stay safe and secure while taking advantage of everything the Internet has to offer.
Dr. David Filer, NRCC associate professor of information systems, will lead the “Staying Safe Online” workshop on Wednesday, Jan. 11, from 9 a.m. to noon at the New River Community College NRV Mall site, room 143. There is a $30 fee for the workshop.

Sons of Confederate Veterans meeting Jan. 11
The Sons of Confederate Veterans, Stuart Horse Artillery Camp 1784 will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11 at Ray’s Restaurant on Rt. 221, north of Floyd.
Members of the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) are also invited to attend. If Floyd County Public Schools are closed due to weather on Wednesday or Thursday of that week, the meeting is cancelled. For further information, please call 1-216-233-8401 or 239-9864.

River City Quilt Guild meeting Jan. 12
River City Quilt Guild will meet Thursday, Jan. 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the Grove United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall on Tyler Ave. in Radford.
Please bring a needle with a large eye, scissors, and thimble for finishing up charity quilts. We will also learn about the Block of the Month. If Radford City Schools are closed due to weather, we will not meet.
