The Botetourt Board of Supervisors passed a resolution at its Tuesday meeting authorizing the county administration to issue a request for proposals (RFP) for a study of future potential fire and EMS facilities.

“Over the past year, the discussion of strategic planning for the future of fire and EMS facilities throughout developing areas of Botetourt County led to the budgeting of funds for a study of future potential locations for fire and EMS facilities,” the administration wrote in its recommendation to proceed with the study.

The proposed study is designed to evaluate facts and call data associated with the county population, fire and EMS call activity, how the county’s Comprehensive Plan might affect future needs, and other data and material that will help develop recommendations on potential future facility locations.

A proposed RFP was developed in coordination with fire and EMS stakeholders from both volunteer and career leaderships, the administration noted, and it was vetted by all volunteer chiefs with no comments or cause for concern received after being released for review.
