BLACKSBURG – A 77-year-old Blacksburg woman has been charged with reckless driving after colliding with a Virginia State trooper vehicle during the July 4 holiday.
According to police, the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday along Interstate 81 at mile maker 262 in Rockingham County.
The reports says the trooper was sitting in his care at a crossover of the interstate when a 2011 Honda Pilot, driven by Alice J. Feret, lost control and struck the trooper’s vehicle. The impact caused both vehicles to flip.
The trooper was taken to UVA Medical Center for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt.
Feret had minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Sentara RMH Medical Center for treatment. She was also wearing a seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation.
