Local students earn academic honors
Two students from Blacksburg, Sophia Aronson and Nola Scott, have been named to the dean’s list for the Fall 2022 semester at the University of Vermont.
Aronson is majoring in Latin American and Caribbean Studies and Spanish.
Scott is majoring in environmental studies.
To be named to the dean’s list, students must have a grade-point-average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.
Radford student named to JMU president’s list
Radford resident Tali Vidal has been named to the President’s List at James Madison University for the Fall 2022 semester. Students who earn president’s list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of 3.900 or above. Vidal is seeking a BS degree in dietetics.
Founded in 1908, James Madison University is a public university located in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. With state-of-the art amenities and facilities, students have access to NCAA Division 1 athletics. JMU also has the highest post-graduation job levels of all Virginia colleges.
Blacksburg’s Brian Bush named to WCU’s Fall 2022 Dean’s List
Brian Bush of Blacksburg has been named to the Western Carolina University Fall 2022 dean’s list.
To qualify for this honor, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher while completing a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Radford’s Abigail Barnes achieves dean’s list honors at Hofstra University
Abigail Barnes of Radford excelled during the Fall 2022 semester at Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY, achieving a GPA of at least 3.5 to earn a spot on the dean’s list. Barnes’s major is Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences.
