BLACKSBURG – The Blacksburg Police Department is warning the public after being made aware of a fraudulent message being left on voice mailboxes, asking the individual to contact the police department at a specific number.
The number given leads callers to a voice message appearing to be the BPD.
“The only number for reaching the Blacksburg Police Department on its main line is (540) 443-1400,” the department announced. “The public is asked to call this number should they receive such a message or become aware of additional fraudulent activity.”
The situation is currently under investigation.
