Marianne Smith Beeson, 78, of Radford, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019. She was born on March 7, 1941 in Louisiana, the daughter of the late William Bradford and Odessa Neck Smith.
Marianne graduated from LSU University High School in Baton Rouge, graduating a year early. She then attended Lake Erie College. After college graduation, she married Bennie Eldred Beeson, Jr. and returned to Baton Rouge to complete her master’s degree from LSU in home economics. She and Bennie moved to Tennessee so Bennie could complete his doctorate degree. Her last move was to Radford, VA in 1968 when Bennie accepted a teaching position at Radford University. After taking time off for the birth of her second child, she made the bold move to open a small business (Sew Biz) so she could share her love of beautiful fabrics, crafts, and quilting with others. Marianne was born with the heart of a teacher and taught many others the art of sewing and crafts.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She is survived by her son William Bradford Beeson and his wife Kyra Marisa Beeson of Irving, Texas, daughter Katherine Mae Snead and her husband Paul Raymond Snead of Salem, Virginia. She is also survived by her four much loved grandchildren: Michael Alexander Beeson, Brian Thomas Beeson, Jacob Ryan Snead, and Addison Grace Snead.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2019 for a celebration of life at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
