The Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office reminds residents that county public schools opened today (Wednesday) and motorists should watch for stopped school buses and slow down in school zones. The Sheriff’s Office has extra deputies out to monitor speed in the school zones. While students returned today, teachers were back at work last week. On Friday morning, all of Botetourt County’s K-12 teachers and principals (above) gathered  at Bonsack Baptist Church where they heard from the school administration and from Kim Bearden (right in bottom photo). Bearden is the cofounder, executive director and language arts teacher at the Ron Clark Academy, an innovative middle school and educator training facility in Atlanta, Ga. Bearden has been inducted into to the National Teachers Hall of Fame. Among other teaching accolades, she is also the author of “Crash Course: The Life Lessons My Students Taught Me.”
