Auburn High School had faced Ft. Chiswell four times this season, including a win in the Region C title game just a week ago.
This past weekend, they continued that streak with a 10-0 win in the state championship contest.
Auburn took control early on and never looked back, netting five runs in the first inning.
The win completed a 26-1 season for the Eagles and an incredible run for the seniors, six of who have started for the better part of four seasons. They made the final four every season and were state runner up their sophomore season.
Auburn played eight games against the 1A teams in the state tournament with an 8-0 record, split with a 16-4, 4A Blacksburg team and defeated 3A William Byrd.
