Judy Cupp Akers, 72 of Norfolk, formerly of Salem passed away Nov. 4, 2025. Born May 27, 1953, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Akers; father, James Cupp; mother, Myrtle Cupp; brothers-in-law, Virgil Spradlin, Jimmy Akers and Donald Sires; sisters-in-law, Doris Akers and Brenda Akers; and grand dog, Walter.
Judy is survived by her son, Charles Lance Akers; daughter-in-law, Anna Lorich Akers; granddaughter, Adeline Ruth Akers; sisters, Joyce Spradlin, Iola Bishop; sister-in-law, Paula Jean Sires; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Bishop and Daniel Sutphin.
Judy was always smiling, ready to strike up a conversation. She worked as a merchandiser for several years in Virginia Beach, but her favorite place she worked at was Auto Trader in Roanoke. Judy loved crocheting, painting, basket weaving, and other crafts. She was a longtime Mets fan turned Nationals fan. Judy was of the Baptist faith, attending the Virginia Beach Community Chapel.
Visitation was Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., at Horne Funeral Home. Graveside Services followed at 1:30 p.m. in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
The family would like to thank the Karolwood Gardens nursing staff and Suzy Peterson for showing Judy so much friendship.
