RADFORD – “A Tribute to Heroes” flag display on the Glencoe Mansion grounds is coming back for 2026.
The majestic display of flags, hosted by Radford Noon Rotary, Glencoe Mansion, Radford VFW Post 776 and General William Campbell Chapter – Daughters of the American Revolution, gives individuals the opportunity to honor their personal heroes while also helping to raise funds for Radford area charities.
Who can be a hero? A hero can be anyone you’d like to honor or remember–a loved one who served in the military, a first responder, a teacher, a cancer survivor and so many other individuals who have made an impact on your life. If you’ve sponsored a flag in the past, you can sponsor a flag again honoring the same person or a new person.
Who can sponsor a flag? Everyone is welcome to sponsor a flag as part of “A Tribute to Heroes.” There are opportunities for individual sponsorships and corporate/business sponsorships. An individual sponsorship costs $50.00 per flag with no limit on the number of flags that can be sponsored. And there are four levels available for corporate/business sponsorship: Bronze – $250; Silver – $500; Gold – $1,000; and Platinum – $2,500. Sponsorships are open now.
Who benefits from flag sponsorships? Individual and corporate/business sponsorships go to support Rotary scholarships to Radford High School students attending Radford University. Other Rotary initiatives include Radford/Fairlawn Daily Bread, Elf Shelf, The Women’s Resource Center, Vittles for Vets, Shelter Box, Sunset Park, the Wheelchair Foundation and world polio eradication.
