RADFORD – Women’s Resource Center of the New River Valley Executive Director Kelly McCoy-Meade has been appointed by Governor Youngkin to serve for a four-year term on the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Program

Professional Standards Committee.

In 2015, legislation was enacted to create the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Program Professional Standards Committee. The purpose is to provide standards to help agencies improve the quality and consistency of their response to survivors of sexual and domestic violence. The Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Program Professional Standards

Committee ensures that sexual and domestic violence service programs across Virginia meet consistent, high-quality standards through a transparent, peer-reviewed accreditation process, is backed by state support, and shaped by diverse and experienced practitioners in the field.

“I am proud of the Women’s Resource Center’s accreditation status and our commitment to providing services that meet best practice standards,” said McCoy-Meade. “The appointment by Governor Youngkin is a great honor and I look forward to supporting sexual and domestic violence programs across the Commonwealth.”

The Women’s Resource Center has served the New River Valley region of Virginia for almost 50 years. The agency provides Emergency Shelter, Transitional Housing, Emergency Advocacy, Counseling, Prevention and Outreach Programming, Legal Advocacy, a 24/7 Live and Local Hotline, and more to survivors of all ages. As one of the accredited domestic and sexual violence shelters in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Women’s Resource Center of the New River Valley continues to set the standard for comprehensive, survivor-centered support services.
