CHRISTIANSBURG – It’s time to honk the horns, blare the sirens, and enjoy a day of family fun.
The New River Valley Home Builders Association (NRVHBA) is hosting the 10th Annual Touch-A-Truck NRV Saturday, Aug. 16, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Uptown Christiansburg (782 New River Rd., back parking lot).
Designed to provide a safe, hands-on learning experience, this unique event lets kids explore construction vehicles, fire trucks, squad cars, bucket trucks and more! For families with children who prefer a quieter environment, a horn-and-siren-free zone will be in place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Kids will stay entertained with plenty of activities hosted by local businesses and nonprofit organizations. Visit the Touch-a-Trade zone to participate in hands-on activities introducing kids to careers in construction, including building their own bird feeder. Stop by the Dunks for Dollars dunk tank, where familiar faces will be ready to make a splash raising funds for the NRVHBA Grant Program. Local food trucks will also be on site with snacks and cool treats.
Tickets purchased the day of the event are just $3 per person or $8 per family (up to four people). Children ages two and under are free. Proceeds from the event benefit the NRVHBA and the Microgrant Fund, which provides resources for elementary and secondary classroom projects that align with careers in the home building and construction trades
Early Bird Tickets are available now. Purchase in advance and save: Get yours for $2 per person or $6 per family.
