Roy Elvin Yopp, 80, of Elliston died Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Lewis Gale Hospital – Montgomery. He was born in Franklin County, Virginia Sept. 26, 1944, to the late Frank James and Mattie Bradford Yopp. He was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Gayland Eller, Cheyanne Eller, and Matthew Huff; sisters, Hettie Bell Dettweiler and Emma Jean Funk; brothers, Curtis Elmer Yopp, James “Dot” Yopp and Barry Yopp.
Roy was a dedicated husband and father that loved his family. He was so proud of his grandchildren and loved them. He was a great provider and worked hard to be there for his family and so enjoyed being with them every chance he could. He enjoyed fishing on the river in Draper, and he loved to sing with his family in church.
He is survived by his wife of more than 57 years, Lila Early Yopp; daughters, Valerie Tolbert, Phyllis (Darrell) Linkous and Cheryl Morgner; grandchildren, Jeromie Tolbert, Caleb Linkous, Gideon Linkous, and Chelsea Tolbert; sister, Caroline (Dempsy) Patton; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to mention special friends Bill and Janice Gee, Tony and Gloria Lafon and family, Eddie and Dale Galimore and church family. The family also extends a special thank you to all our extended friends, family, and church families for all your love and prayers during Roy’s illness.
A graveside service was conducted, Monday, June 23, 2025 in the Yopp Family Cemetery, 4529 Clark’s Ferry Rd, Draper, VA 24324, with the Pastor Eddie Gallimore and Pastor Darrell Linkous officiating. The family received friends following the graveside at Belspring Church with a memorial service following the visitation.
