Quarterback Luke Gaither had an outstanding fall at Radford High School.
He was named this paper’s all-county/all-city player of the year. But now Radford will have to find another QB1 as Gaither has announced plans to transfer to Liberty Christian Academy (LCA).
The 6-3, 165 sophomore finished the season with 208 completions on 360 attempts for 2,472 yards with a 57.8 percent completion rate, 20 passing touchdowns and another on the ground. Gaither had 10 interceptions.
He made his intentions known on a social media post.
Freshman Peyton Dobbins is the only other signal caller on Radford’s roster from this past season.
Meanwhile LCA has come under plenty of criticism as a private school playing in the Virginia High School League ranks. This past season, the team won its second state title with a 14-0 mark.
