RADFORD – The family of Michel Lee Price, a 19-year-old Radford teen who was killed in a motorcycle accident in April, has started a foundation to keep his memory alive, and increase awareness for motorcycle safety.

Price was killed when his motorcycle collided with a pick-up truck on Friday, April 18, 2025 at the intersection of East Main Street (Route 11) and High Meadows Parkway. Price was traveling westbound on East Main Street when the truck attempted to make a left turn onto High Meadows Parkway and his motorcycle collided with the trailer. Price was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the hospital.

“He was only 19; he had his whole life ahead of him,” said Price’s mother, Rebecca Hughes. “He worked two full time jobs and was moving to Tennessee to pursue his career in lineman work.”

Hughes said Michael was on his way home when the crash occurred.

“He was on his way home and was almost there, maybe two or three minutes away from his house,” she said.

Now, Hughes and other family members have started a foundation to increase awareness for motorcycle safety. Michael, she said, loved anything with wheels, from four-wheelers to bicycles, motorcycles and more.

“We are starting a foundation to help raise awareness for Michael and motorcycles,” she said. “We will have different events, and our next event is a motorcycle, car and truck run to show support for his foundation.”

Hughes said that event is scheduled for June, with more details to come.

“We just want to keep his name alive,” Hughes said in an interview with WDBJ7. “We’re going to have a billboard for him. We’re going to do an event tournament. We’re doing a fishing tournament. We’re going to try to do an event every couple months, just so his name is said every day.”

If anyone would like to donate to the effort, Hughes said they can do so on cash app ($MLPFoundation) or through Zelle (5408186563).

In his obituary, Price was described as someone who “lived to hunt, fish, ride motorcycles and spend time with his family. He was a devoted son, grandson, brother, nephew, boyfriend and friend, and will be sorely missed by anyone that knew him.”

Michael’s mother, Rebecca Hughes, says her son loved riding four-wheelers and motorcycles, and spending time with his family.
