RADFORD – Radford Noon Rotary will host a dedication of “A Tribute to Heroes” on the grounds of Glencoe Mansion on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, at 1 p.m.
The event will be the official start of “A Tribute to Heroes” display of American flags sponsored to honor heroes of all types, from service members to first responders and to individuals who have made an impact on someone’s life. There is still time to purchase a flag to honor someone and raise money for worthy efforts in the city at the same time.

The May 26 opening ceremony will include remarks from multiple members of the community, including Virginia Delegate Jason Ballard, Radford Mayor David Horton, Radford Post 776 Commander Nathan VanHoy and Pastor Morgan Whitfield of the Radford Presbyterian Church. The ceremony will also include bagpiper Jayna Sallis and an Honor Guard and 21-gun salute from Radford VFW Post 776.
The Radford Noon Rotary is a volunteer organization dedicated to advancing Radford through good deeds. The “Tribute to Heroes” is comprised of flags sponsored by members of the community, and the proceeds will benefit multiple organizations. Some of the organizations will include Radford University Scholarships for students from Radford High School, Vittles for Vets, Elf Shelf, the Women’s Resource Center, Beans and Rice, Radford-Fairlawn Daily Bread, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, and the Glencoe Mansion.
A Tribute to Heroes will be on display from Memorial Day through September 11. Please be sure to visit the flags and honor our heroes. The Glencoe Mansion grounds are open daily dawn to dusk. Glencoe Mansion is free to visit and is open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, 1 – 4 p.m.
