RADFORD – In accordance with guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the City of Radford is seeking public comment on the proposed draft of the 2025 Annual Action Plan for the City of Radford’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.
The Annual Action Plan provides a yearly accounting of CDBG, and other funds allocated towards the implementation of objectives outlined in the Consolidated Plan. The Consolidated Plan identifies community needs and proposed solutions in the areas of housing, special needs, economic development and non-housing community development. CDBG activities benefit low-to-moderate-income persons by making improvements throughout the city, taking into consideration the public input received.
Funding for the 2024 fiscal year will be $172,251 for the CDBG program, plus $29,110 has been rolled from prior year allocations.
The proposed housing and community development goals for 2025 are: support affordable housing; prevent and end homelessness; and support non-homeless special needs.
All proposed activities’ budgets will be proportionally increased or decreased from estimated funding levels to match actual annual allocation amounts.
Proposed use of PY 2025 CDBG funds include:
- Emergency Home Repair – $20,000
- Public Facility – Water line Grove – $130,000
- Façade Program – $7,500
- New River Community Action – $6,500
